Rocky Road & Ballacurry Road |
Well, after finally getting the bike back in good running order after the last track (see Dowse Road/Greeba Mill Road report), decided to find another couple of tracks to have a gander at
First one is a track called Rocky Road (no idea why) that runs from Marown Old Church to the Archallagan plantation, just south of the Crosby section of the TT course
The track was a little rocky, but not too bad. Most of it was like this:
although it did get a bit more fun further along as it dipped and rose where the tractors have used it during the winter etc
View to the north looking at Greeba Mountain (well, it is 1384 feet, so it just qualifies)
and the view to the south over Slieau Chiarn
After that, I rode around the Archallagan plantation and up to the start of two greenway roads (G4 Ballacurry Road and G5 Kerrowgarrow Road). At the start of both are the ruins of Cornelly Mine:

I got about half a mile in, and the obvious track was barred by a gate and abandoned vehicles - the gate off to the right in the picture led to a narrow grass-covered track that didn't look like it was used by bikes much, so I'll come back to this one
I came back home via the Ballacotch track, but broke off after that as I've suddenly gained a neck ache
